Evan's Junior Prom

Junior Prom of C/2011 March 6, 2010
My brother goes to his first Junior Prom! I was super happy to help since I guess I am the type of person who has a natural sense of planning and helping. Anyways, there were 2 weeks left until prom and my brother was freaking out. His main problem: the tuxedo. Everyone who goes to prom would be expected to rent a tux. Not this guy. My brother had an "evil" plan to work his way around prom tradition.

We have a cousin, Ed, who was eager about his senior prom back in November 2009. Back in November 2009, me and my family (plus Ed) went to Chinatown for dim sum and grocery shopping. After eating delicious dim sun, besides going grocery shopping with my family, I dragged Ed to a prom store in Chinatown called Downtown Fashion (the place where I bought my junior prom dress) to find a dress for my senior prom. As me and Ed roamed around the store, I found nothing while he found a "tuxedo", or a business suit, to wear to senior prom. Talk about cheap, the tuxedo happen to be on sale that week for $55! What a bargain! So pretty much, my brother's "evil" plan was to borrow Ed's tuxedo besides renting. His plan went pretty well, except, the suit made him look like a chauffeur* (lol). I totally agreed with him!

*The tuxedo was black, of course, with strips running down. The set had: a long sleeve white collar shirt, a stripped "rubber band" tie, the stripped vest, and of course thestripped pants and coat.

One day before prom, I stayed up almost all night helping my brother tweak the "suit" to look like a formal tuxedo. Thanks to me, I went to my junior prom and I have the pictures of the boys in my limo group. By looking at their tuxedo's, we got ride of the vest, changed the Ed's tuxedo's tie and collar shirt. Luckily we were able to get a colored tie from our cousin, which has lots of ties. He choose the color green. Next was to match the green tie with a collar shirt. Again, how lucky was he, he owns a black collar shirt. THEN last thing to do was to emphasize his green tie. I suggested a maile lei or a boutineer. The boutineer would poke holes in Ed's tuxedo so we went with the maile lei.

The day of junior prom. He needs a maile lei! Ordering a maile lei the day of prom is impossible! I thought I could just ask for one and they would probrably have extra. Yet again, that sounds impossible. I walked to a florist shop in the Windward City Shopping Center, Honda Florist, just for my brother and see if they had any maile lei's left. Once I got there, the lady was telling me that they didn't have any except for the fake one. Sad face. After 20 minutes standing around the store and on the phone with my brother, the lady found one laying around the back refrigerator of their store. There was a cancellation of the order and lucky for me, I was able to get the maile lei for a pretty cheap price, $30! Walking home from Honda Florist, I called my brother and still he never took a shower and ironed his tuxedo. At that time, it was about 3:30PM. He told me that his ride was at 4 (he was lying to me)! Well, when I got home, I forced him to take a shower. I was left with the responsibility of ironing his tuxedo >.< By 4PM, he was in his tux and maile lei. [taking pictures, taking pictures, mom came home, neighbors saw him, taking picture taking pictures] His ride came at 5PM. Here is a sample picture of the tuxedo! I'm so proud... of my myself :)
